"Out with the old and in with the new." I actually hate that saying. I choose to not use it when describing the new year. We can't change yesterday, can't predict tomorrow, so just live today. You also rarely enter the New Year able to let go of the old. I recently found that planning your road trip doesn't always go the way you plan. I set out for home from a weekend in South Padre. I decided to make a pit stop at my Sister In Laws. I put the address in the GPS, hit go, and took off. All of my trust was in the plan that GPS had. It even breaks it down to the time I will arrive. I get just a few miles from my destination to begin seeing signs that the bridge ahead was out. I still put my trust that I would arrive to their house before the bridge. I just kept going until..... I get to the bridge that is out. The GPS informed me I was a mile from their house. Moral of the story, you can try to plan your road trip of life, but be ready to get so close to your destination only to have to find a new route. Don't put all of your faith into someone or something unless it is God. He knows the plan, but will only reveal it over time.
Another current example of plans changing is that I recently had to cancel a trip to Denver to see friends. I am not in the financial situation right now that justifies the trip. I know that my dear Melissa would not want me to sacrifice the financial care of my family to come visit her. She knows I love her and as a mature adult she knows that without me spending hundreds of dollars I don't really have. That is why she is such a special friend to me. That is why I consider myself a great Mom and wife. I will not put the opportunity to better my family's financial situation on the back burner to enjoy a weekend for myself.
I refuse to say I'm entering the new year with the new. I'm entering the new year day by day, and living the whole year day by day. God only guarantees me temporary time on this Earth and I'm going to enjoy every second of it.
Ah sweet. Things will get better.
